Artbeat Studio receives a $20,000 grant from the Bell Let’s Talk Community Fund for
Artists-in-residency Recovery Project

Winnipeg, MB, January 25, 2017 – Artbeat Studio is pleased to receive a $20,000 grant from the Bell Let’s Talk Community Fund to support the expansion of our Artists-in-residency Recovery Project.

Artbeat Studio is a unique community-based, peer directed program that provides social supports, free working art studio/gallery space and mentorship for individuals living with mental illness for the purpose of recovery and empowerment.

“Every movement requires a first step. We are fortunate that we have so many who walk with us on the journey,” said Manny Schulz, Artbeat Studio Board Chair. “Our artists, alumni, volunteers, staff and community supporters are the ones who provide the inspiration and strength for us. Thank you Bell Let’s Talk for supporting Artbeat Studio.”

The Bell Let’s Talk Community Fund grant will be used to enhance the current residency program by implementing a comprehensive music performance and writing component and will include expanding the organization’s reach to artists from across Manitoba in northern and rural regions. Modelled after the successful Workman Arts project in Toronto, Artbeat Studio will expand to include a music program that will provide career path opportunities for video/audio performance recording and live performance opportunities.

“Bell Let’s Talk is proud to support Artbeat Studio in its work to improve the lives of people in Winnipeg living mental health issues through the Artists-in-residency program,” said Mary Deacon, Chair of Bell Let’s Talk. “Artbeat Studio is one of 7 groups helping Manitobans living with a mental illness and their families receiving grants from the 2016 Bell Let’s Talk Community Fund.”
