Artbeat Studio is pleased to announce Carol Finlay as the new Executive Director. Carol will be working for a time alongside Lucille Bart (founding Executive Director) to allow for the knowledge transfer and smooth transition into her new role. We are confident that the Artbeat mission will be bolstered with the extensive experience in Community Arts that Carol brings. We are grateful to the HR Committee for their diligent work and the Board Members for their support and collaboration during the search process.
Carol Finlay, BA, MCP, ACMCP has dedicated her career to strengthening Manitoba’s outstanding arts and culture sector. She brings twelve years of experience in non-profit arts organization leadership to Artbeat Studio, along with expertise and established national networks in the field of community-engaged arts.
As a lifelong learner, Carol earned her Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Sociology/History, followed by business and arts and cultural management certificates at the University of Winnipeg. In her role as Education Director at Creative Manitoba, she collaborated with industry experts to produce education and training events from workshops to conferences for artists and arts administrators.
The granddaughter of English and Scottish immigrants to Treaty One Territory, Carol lives and works in Winnipeg’s inner city and is a champion for social change through the arts.
A proud mother of three adult children, she enjoys spending time with her family, attending arts events, walking, appreciating nature, photography and teaching piano.
Carol believes in the transformative power of the arts and how, along with a supportive environment, it can promote mental health recovery and overall well-being. She is excited and honoured to step into the role of Executive Director to continue the valuable work of Artbeat Studio.
