Creative Corner:

Artbeat Alumni Drop-In:
Fridays from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM at 444 Kennedy Arts Centre. Open to all Artbeat Alumni. Artists can bring their own supplies and work independantly in a group environment.
Micah House Drop-In:
Every Tuesday afternoon, Micah House offers a drop-in for conversation and socialising. Micah House, Winnipeg’s Catholic Centre for Social Justice, is located at 1039 Main Street. Artbeat alumni often provide arts programming at these gatherings, which are also open to the public. For more information, please contact Artbeat Studio or Micah House.
Guitar Lessons:
Artbeat Studio, in a partnership with the Manitoba Conservatory of Music, is excited to offer private individual guitar lessons at an affordable and reduced cost. Lesson times are flexible, and can occur as often as once a week. Lessons at Artbeat Studio resume again in the fall.
Artbeat Studio Clay Workshops:
Clay workshops are offered weekly at Artbeat’s Pottery Studio at 62 Albert. Here, alumni can work on sculpture, hand building, or wheelwork in Raku and stoneware clays.
Writer’s Circle:
Artbeat Studio offers writer’s circles where alumni and current resident artists can meet to share their poetry and word art. Nigel Bart, Studio Facilitator, and a volunteer community poet facilitate the event. The group typically includes about ten artists and poets. The writer’s circles are a great place to generate ideas on how to approach writing and poetry. The circles are held semi-annually, depending on interest.

Raku Pottery Firings:

Raku is an ancient Japanese firing-technique featuring delicate vessels and brilliant metallic lustre glazes. Firings take place outdoors, in Carman, MB. The raku firings are open to allumni, volunteers and current resident artists. The firings are held semi-annually, depending on interest.
