A Place to Share Poetry, Stories, and Musings
Every Thursday at 1 PM, Studio Central hosts a Creative Writer’s Circle.
This is an opportunity for artists to share their writing and listen to the perspectives of others, giving a platform to discuss a range of personal, social and political issues.
Studio Central promotes a creative process that results in reflective discussion, performances and publication.
During the Creative Writing Circle, participants can also prepare submissions for Kaleidoscope Online.
Poetry Slam
The first Thursday of each month, the Writer’s Circle ends with a Poetry Slam. Artists are invited to perform their readings in a more formal capacity which is recorded and then posted on the Artbeat Creative Community YouTube Channel the following week.
Kaleidoscope Online
Kaleidoscope Online is an online publication that provides an artistic and literary forum for persons with lived experience. It also assists family members, caregivers, professionals and students in gaining highly personalized insights into the recovery process. Participating artists contribute significantly in breaking down the stigma associated with mental illness.
All submissions are created by persons with lived experience with mental health issues and/or family and friends. It all comes together for an online publication which celebrates the self-expression of local talent.
